Tuesday, Revisit Part 2 of StarTalk Live! at SF Sketchfest 2017 with Bill Nye and Friends

Enjoying our re-visit to SF Sketchfest 2017? Well, on this week’s episode of StarTalk All-Stars, we re-join host Bill Nye, comic co-host Eugene Mirman, space activist Ariel Waldman, SF Sketchfest co-founder Janet Varney, and comedian Claudia O’Doherty to wrap up our discussion on space exploration, citizen science, and more.

We pick up right where we left off as Ariel tells us about Science Hack Days:

Science Hack Day is a two-day, all-night event where anyone excited about making weird, silly or serious things with science comes together in the same physical space to see what they can prototype within 24 consecutive hours. The mission of Science Hack Day is to get excited and make things with science.

For our StarTalk fans living in Brest, France, San Francisco, and Belgaum, India, the next Science Hack Days are coming your way soon in 2018! You’ll hear about some of Ariel’s favorite ideas to emerge from these days including “DNAquiri” – an editable way to extract DNA from strawberries. Want to know how? Find out right here.

You’ll also hear about Ariel’s book, What’s It Like In Space?, where she interviewed astronauts about their time above the Earth. The book is less hard fact and more silly, weird anecdotes that you usually don’t hear from astronauts. It serves as a reminder that the people who travel into space are actually human, and space travel can be for everyone. However, we then talk about how going to space might be like “a camping trip from hell” and that it might not be for everyone.

Lastly, we end our time at SF Sketchfest with a great Q and A. If you enjoyed listening to these Sketchfest episodes don’t forget to check out another of our visits to Sketchfest, in 2016, featuring The Martian and Artemis author Andy Weir (link: ).

Please join us tomorrow night for StarTalk Live! from SF Sketchfest 2017 (Part 2) (Repeat) at 7pm ET right here on our website, as well as on our new All-Stars channel on Apple Podcasts, Google Play Music, SoundCloud, Stitcher, and TuneIn. And if you’re an All-Access subscriber, you can watch or listen to this episode ad-free at 7pm, too.

That’s it for now. Keep Looking Up!
