Tuesday, Travel Through Time and Space with Janna Levin and Matt Kirshen

What awaits us out beyond our solar system? What mysteries will we find when we leave the neighborhood of our home star? These questions are all based on one (hopeful) eventuality: interstellar space travel.

Interstellar space travel is the main topic on this week’s episode of StarTalk All-Stars featuring astrophysicist and host Janna Levin and comic co-host Matt Kirshen. Matt asks, and Janna answers, your fan-submitted Cosmic Queries about exploring the space beyond our home star.

Janna and Matt have an undeniable chemistry working together so it’s always exciting when they pair up for an episode of StarTalk All-Stars. This episode is full of the cosmic ponderings that our fans have come to love, myself included.

You’ll hear about traveling through black holes, wormholes inside black holes, and the idea of black holes colliding. That’s not even all the talk on black holes, as the thread of conversation continues throughout the whole episode.

I liked a question posed by one of our fans which was, “Ships navigating in deep space should be shrouded in total darkness, right?” The reason I like it is because I’ve honestly wondered the same thing. As Janna points out, it depends on where you are. With interstellar travel the light you’re receiving is pretty dim, but with intergalactic travel, it gets really dark. However, as our pair also points out, that makes for pretty good stargazing.

Besides that, you’ll hear many more Cosmic Queries on interstellar travel including some about traveling at the speed of light, time dilation, dark matter and dark energy, the possibilities of extra-dimensions beyond our three dimensions, and much more!

Please join us tomorrow night for Traveling Through Time and Space, with Janna Levin at 7pm ET right here on our website, as well as on our All-Stars channels on Apple Podcasts, Google Play Music, SoundCloud, Stitcher, and TuneIn. If you’re an All-Access subscriber, you can watch or listen to this episode ad-free at 7pm, too. And remember that you can also catch next week’s StarTalk All-Stars episode one week early on TuneIn, at tunein.com/startalkallstars.

That’s it for now. Keep Looking Up!
