Introducing Neil deGrasse Tyson’s New Social Media Team at Star Talk

Hi there. Welcome to the StarTalk blog. My name is Jeffrey Simons, and I’m the new Social Media director for StarTalk. I just wanted to take a moment to tell you about the exciting new developments happening here at StarTalk.

First of all, notice that I said StarTalk, not StarTalk Radio. That’s because as you may have heard, StarTalk is branching out. We won’t just be radio anymore. In addition to our podcasts, you can get your StarTalk fix on videos of the StarTalk show on The Nerdist Channel on YouTube.

StarTalk host Neil deGrasse Tyson hosting The Nerdist Channel’s Chris Hardwick on his lap.

Some of you have already asked us on Facebook whether that means you won’t be able to get Neil’s take on science, celebrities, social issues and more in your favorite format, and I’m here to tell you not to worry. We’ll still have podcasts of the radio show to keep you looking up – or is that listening in – in your car, in bed at night to the annoyance of your significant other (see, we pay attention to those comments on Facebook!) or wherever else you listen to Neil deGrasse Tyson and his celebrity guests.

Next, we want to give you more opportunities to interact with the show itself. On our social media channels we’ll solicit your questions about science, physics, astronomy, astrophysics, and more for Neil, and he’ll answer as many as he can on the show.

We have other plans in the works, including some rewarding opportunities for you and some new ways you can get more involved in our Facebook page, Twitter feed,  Google+ page, YouTube channel and Pinterest. And you may notice increased activity in other corners of the social media universe as well.

Finally, I encourage you to post comments here on the StarTalk blog, as well as on Facebook and Twitter. Tell us what you’d like to see from the show. Tell us what you’d like to see from us on Social Media. While we won’t be able to execute every idea, we will listen to all of them.

That’s it for now.

Keep Looking Up!
