Explore the Cosmological Mysteries of the Universe Friday with Neil Tyson, Sean Carroll and Chuck Nice

This week on StarTalk Radio Neil deGrasse Tyson gears up to explore the cosmological mysteries of our universe. Joining him are comic co-host Chuck Nice and theoretical physicist Sean Carroll, who specializes in quantum physics and the fabric of spacetime.

This episode is packed full of tasty conversation on theoretical physics, quantum mechanics, and many more topics of a mind-bending nature. If you’re at all interested in multiverse theory, string theory, or anything equally mystifying to mere mortals, this episode is for you.

Some highlights include Neil and Sean exploring the “Tired light’ hypothesis, multiverse theory – including the cosmological multiverse and the quantum multiverse – and the “superposition” of an electron and its impact on the “Many-worlds” interpretation of quantum mechanics.

However, my favorite part of this episode is when Chuck Nice, acting as our Everyman, asks Neil and Sean to break down string theory in a language he can understand. I was so glad Chuck asked because, like him, I’ve hear a lot about string theory but I have never really gotten a simple answer or explanation – and their answer provides great clarification.

You’ll also explore absolute zero, the minimum and maximum amounts of energy a particle can have, gravitational waves vs. electromagnetism, dark matter, general relativity, the Big Bang, and much more. In other words, get ready to go beyond.
