Find out about the basics of injuries including which injuries are most common amongst professional athletes and weekend warriors. We discuss how the process of recovery has drastically changed due to the constant advances in technology. Also, throughout the episode, Gary shares his personal experiences dealing with injuries during his playing career and how the culture has changed, and not changed, with time.

Explore the recovery process: the fine balance of rest and movement, the dangers of re-injury, and the variation of injury depending upon the athlete. Chuck and Joshua roleplay a conversation to show what it looks like when Joshua has to tell a General Manager that a player will be out for an extended length of time. It shows you just how much pressure there can be on professional athletes and the cold-blooded nature of sports. Chuck also tells us why he would never be able to coach.

You’ll hear why braces can serve as a crutch for an injury if used too often. We dive into the future of treatment including the new ideas of rebuilding ligaments, stem cell work, and if high-level treatments will ever trickle their way into the public.

Then, we examine the psychological aspects of injury. You’ll learn how the brain can send signals to avoid certain events that cause injury. Jim outlines the process behind rehabilitating the mind during recovery. We also discuss the next steps in sports recovery. All that, plus, Jim tells us why sticking to the program is the best thing you can do to recover from and injury.
