Warning: Adult Content this Sunday on StarTalk Radio
Warning: Adult Content.
We don’t need to say that too often on StarTalk Radio. An errant expletive here, an obscene song lyric there.
But when it comes to this Sunday’s podcast, The Evolution of Love and Sex with Dan Savage, that warning should come in bold, pulsating letters.
Not that there are any four-letter words in this episode.
But not every parent wants to explain what Chuck Nice was talking about when he said, “when I met your mother that ball gag looked so great in her mouth” or what Bill Nye meant when he said he’s “feeling horny.”
Or about the drug-like biochemical aspects of romantic love and sex which biological anthropologist Dr. Helen Fisher describes.
In fact, try explaining to a 10-year old what polyamory is, or Tinder, or why some people attach shame to a one-night stand, or why some fetishes are acceptable and others are punishable by law.
But while this episode is definitely not for the very young, it should be required listening for everyone else.
Because by the time you’re done listening to Dan Savage, who has been writing his Savage Love sex and relationship advice column for a quarter of a century, and Dr. Helen Fisher, who is the chief scientific advisor to Match.com, you will have been exposed to enough scientific data, anecdotal evidence, and informed opinion that you may have a better understanding that the scope of human sexuality and modern love is not limited to a narrowly defined and utterly non-representative range.
Or not.
Either way, though, you have been warned.
Join us Sunday, May 10 at 7:00 PM EDT on our website, iTunes, Stitcher, TuneIn and SoundCloud.
That’s it for now. Keep Looking Up!
