Tuesday Night on All-Stars: The Two Chucks Sing Silly Songs of Space

Did you know that astrophysicist Charles Liu can sing? Well, if you didn’t, you’re about to hear it on this week’s episode of StarTalk All-Stars. Charles is back in the hosting seat alongside comic co-host Chuck Nice to explore the history of the universe and our relationship with time.

Photo montage of the Two Chucks - Chuck Liu and Chuck Nice.

Find out what time means to Chuck and why he has mostly kept a philosophical view of time throughout his life. Chuck also explains why Einstein’s thought experiments are his favorite to think about. You’ll learn more about how time functions in the universe. We also look at the stages of time and how they shape what’s around us.

We bring a new segment to this week’s episode of StarTalk All-Stars as the two Chuck’s bring us Super Silly Space Songs from all across the Cosmos. If you didn’t think astrophysics can be sung to the tune of popular songs, you thought wrong. You’ll hear soon to be classics including “Time Is A Dimension,” “I Like Big Bang and I Cannot Lie,” “Black Holes Don’t Suck,” and “End of Time.” Look for the album “The Two Chucks – Science and Smoothness” in stores soon (pending trademark).

We answer fan-submitted Cosmic Queries about the Big Bang: is the name a misnomer? Can we find the point that the Big Bang originated from? What would’ve happened if the Big Bang exploded with half the amount of matter?

Discover more about black holes, the birth of gravity in the early universe, and gravitational lensing. You’ll hear why a star has to be a certain mass to end in a supernova. Charles tells us how we use the cosmological principle and the Copernican principle to understand the universe even when we don’t know what it looks like as a whole. All that, plus, we learn about the death of the universe and we ask, can time die?

Please join us tomorrow night for Time and the Universe, with Charles Liu at 7pm ET right here on our website, as well as on our All-Stars channels on Apple Podcasts, Google Play Music, SoundCloud, Stitcher, and TuneIn. And if you’re an All-Access subscriber, you can watch or listen to this episode ad-free at 7pm, too.

That’s it for now. Keep Looking Up!
