Tomorrow, StarTalk Live! Continues Our Quest to Make America Smart Again.

You can never have too much of a good thing. Well, you can, but, in this instance you can’t.

This week on StarTalk Radio, we are back at The Count Basie Theatre, in Red Bank, New Jersey, to bring you Part Two of our fantastic 4/17/17 StarTalk Live! show featuring Neil deGrasse Tyson, comic co-host Eugene Mirman, U.S. Senator Cory Booker, John Holdren, former Science Advisor to President Obama, Jo Handelsman, former Associate Director for Science at the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, comedians Ophira Eisenberg from NPR’s Ask Me Another and Baratunde Thurston from The Daily Show.

Continuing on our mission to Make America Smart Again, our panel dives into an array of topics relevant to the better understanding of science, technology, and innovation in America. Topics including microbiology, artificial intelligence, Superfund sites, alternative energy, DARPA and ARPA-E, cyber security, and government-conducted research.

I had the good fortune of being at this show and I really enjoyed the closing statements offered by the panel, with everyone giving their thoughts on what it will take to Make America Smart Again.

During a night where so much was covered during the conversation, and so much was emphasized on what we need to start doing and what needs to change, it was great to hear our panel offer advice on how most of us can do simple things in our lives to support the progress of science, technology, and innovation.

From Ophira suggesting that we focus on our community instead of ourselves, to John recommending that we each dedicate 10% of our time to talking about science and technology, all the responses were fantastic and well worth a listen (I don’t want to spoil all of them here).

I highly recommend making it out to a StarTalk Live! if you get the chance. Being a science nerd, it really is a special experience sitting in a sold-out theatre where the love for science is felt on all wavelengths. You don’t even have to be a science nerd! You just have to love thought-provoking conversation and sharp humor (which hopefully everybody does). Not to mention, StarTalk Live! always has a rockin’ line-up for every show.

Speaking of which, we just announced our next StarTalk Live, at Future Con/Awesome Con in Washington DC on June 16, 2017, with special guest host astronaut Chris Hadfield. Tickets aren’t on sale yet, but you can find out more about Future Con here.

For now though, please join us tomorrow night for StarTalk Live! Let’s Make America Smart Again (Part 2) at 7pm EDT right here, or on Apple Podcasts, Google Play Music, SoundCloud, Stitcher, and TuneIn. And if you’re an All-Access subscriber, you can watch or listen to this episode ad-free at 7pm, too, or, listen to the full Live Stream replay here.
