Tomorrow Night, it’s Bill Nye the Skeptic Guy!
In tomorrow night’s episode of StarTalk All-Stars, Bill Nye and Chuck Nice answer Cosmic Queries we’ve collected from our fans about telekinesis, levitation and other magic tricks. They also answer questions about climate change deniers, people who don’t believe we actually landed on the moon, people who believe in miracles (even one’s they’ve “witnessed” themselves), conspiracy theorists, and why our current math and physics can’t explain what happened before the Big Bang.
It turns out, the answers all have one thing in common: evidence, or the lack thereof.
You see, when you live an evidence-based life, and you make your decisions on scientific data, it’s easy to dismiss miracles and pseudoscience.
And, according to Bill, it doesn’t lessen your appreciation for a good illusion or magic trick.
But what it does do is teach you how to think critically.
In fact, in answer to a question about the best way to teach skepticism and critical thinking to the next generation, Bill suggests teaching them magic tricks.
Because it turns out that the best way to teach people how to avoid getting taken in by charlatans is to teach them how easy it is to fool each other.
Join us Tuesday, 9/27/16, at 7:00pm EDT, for Magic, Illusion and Skepticism, with Bill Nye – StarTalk All-Stars on our website, or on iTunesPodcasts, Google Play Music, SoundCloud, Stitcher and TuneIn.
That’s it for now. Keep Looking Up!
