There’s a revolution going on.

Some people call it the social media revolution.

But whatever you call it, it’s changing everything.

It’s been a recurring theme this season on StarTalk.

We’ve interviewed Arianna Huffington, whose little personal blog has grown into a major media player: The Huffington Post.*

We’ve interviewed two astronauts, Chris Hadfield and Mike Massimino, who have been on the leading edge of using social media to help bring the exploration of space down to Earth.

And this week, on StarTalk Radio, we delve into how social media is impacting society, with Biz Stone, the co-founder of one of it’s most important channels, Twitter.

Twitter has changed the definition of breaking news, with “citizen journalists” on the ground able to bring us images and information with an immediacy and freedom of access that was always desired but never achievable.

Twitter has broken down the gaping chasms between celebrity and fan, elected official and citizen, and companies and their customers, allowing personal interaction at a scale heretofore impossible.

We’ll explore the role social media played in the Arab Spring, and the exploration of Mars. Even Bill Nye gets in on the conversation, challenging Neil to a “like-off!”
