Friday, StarTalk Live! Presents More Citizen Science from San Francisco

This week on StarTalk Radio we wrap up our time from SF Sketchfest 2017 with host Bill Nye, comic co-host Eugene Mirman, space activist Ariel Waldman, SF Sketchfest co-founder Janet Varney, and comedian Claudia O’Doherty.

We pick up with the gang as they finish up their discussion on hacking space exploration, Ariel’s book What’s It Like in Space?: Stories from Astronauts Who’ve Been There, artificial intelligence, Science Hack Days, and much more.

Here’s a little bit more on what Science Hack Days are all about:

Science Hack Day is a two-day-all-night event where anyone excited about making weird, silly or serious things with science comes together in the same physical space to see what they can prototype within 24 consecutive hours. The mission of Science Hack Day is to get excited and make things with science. Designers, developers, scientists and anyone excited about making things with science are welcome to attend – no experience in science or hacking is necessary, just an insatiable curiosity. The event is entirely free to attend, organized by volunteers, and supported via sponsors.

Science Hack Days are happening all over the world – for our US-based listeners there are two coming up soon – one in Portland in September, and another in San Francisco in October. However, the best thing about Science Hack Days? If you don’t find one close to you, you can organize it yourself! You can find a “How-To” guide here.

Lastly, if you enjoy listening to these live episodes why not come to one yourself? This is another reminder that tickets are on sale NOW for StarTalk Live! at the Kings Theatre in Brooklyn. This will be the last StarTalk Live! show to be part of the Eugene Mirman Comedy Festival because the festival will end after its tenth year. (This is not the last StarTalk Live! show ever, just the last one as a part of this festival). This is sure to be a special show. StarTalk Live! began as a part of the EMCF and I’m sure the show will be a special one as we give the festival its final send-off.

StarTalk Live! at Kings Theatre in Brooklyn, NY on 9/18/17 will be hosted by Neil deGrasse Tyson with co-host Eugene Mirman and special guests. Doors open at 8pm. You can get tickets here.

Please join us tomorrow night for StarTalk Live! Citizen Science from San Francisco (Part 2) at 7pm EDT right here on our website, as well as on Apple Podcasts, Google Play Music, SoundCloud, Stitcher, and TuneIn. And if you’re an All-Access subscriber, you can listen to this episode ad-free at 7pm, too.

That’s it for now. Keep Looking Up!
