Friday, Neil deGrasse Tyson and Sarah Rose Siskind Explore Our Galaxy and Beyond

On this week’s episode of StarTalk Radio, we’re bringing you galaxies colliding, dark matter and dark energy, the Big Bang…what more could you want?

Neil deGrasse Tyson and comic co-host Sarah Rose Siskind (a wonderful StarTalk All-Stars co-host making her first appearance on StarTalk Radio) are taking a tour through our galaxy and beyond to answer Cosmic Queries submitted by our fans.

You’ll learn about the expansion of the universe and how our collision course with the Andromeda galaxy overrides the expansion rate. We also talk about the Big Bang – if there’s a better name for it and how the name “Big Bang” came about – and about the remnants of the Big Bang, also known as the Cosmic Microwave Background radiation.

We ponder déjà vu – could it be two different timelines intersecting at the exact same moment and creating a mental link? Neil also tells us a time he had déjà vu in the southern United States but it turned out to be something unexpected.

We continue our potpourri of Cosmic Queries as we explore whether certain formulas function the same with dark matter as with dark energy. You’ll find out if there could be a universe inside of a black hole. You’ll also hear if there’s a way to see the reverse side of the Big Dipper. Then, Neil explains how to pull off a cool experiment with some friends regarding the geography of the stars that make up the Big Dipper.

Finally, Neil explains why “Flat-Earthers” still exist and how he stays positive in a world with “science skeptics.” All that, plus, you’ll also learn, if you didn’t already know, the difference between a cemetery and a graveyard! I didn’t know and the answer was surprisingly fulfilling.

Please join us tomorrow night for Cosmic Queries – Our Galaxy and Beyond at 7pm ET right here on our website, as well as on Apple Podcasts, Google Play Music, SoundCloud, Stitcher, and TuneIn. If you’re an All-Access subscriber, you can watch or listen to this episode ad-free at 7pm, too.

That’s it for now. Keep Looking Up!
