Exciting News: StarTalk Live and Live-Streamed at SXSW, COSMOS, Bill Nye, Boston and more
Lots of news this week, so let’s get right to it.
StarTalk Live at SXSW, part of “Quirky + GE Present A Night of Invention”
First of all, we’re happy to announce that StarTalk Live will be on the road in Austin, TX at SXSW (South by Southwest).
It’s #NightofInvention… well, technically the extravaganza is called “Quirky + GE Present A Night of Invention.” The evening starts with Quirky’s famed “product Eval” and moves into a special edition of StarTalk Live, hosted by Bill Nye the Science Guy with co-host Eugene Mirman. It’s part of GE’s yearlong celebration of the power of invention, saluting the innovator in all of us.
The entire Night of Innovation is free of charge, but you have to be a SXSW badge holder to attend. That’s not all. You’ll need to register here in advance. PLUS, after you do Register/RSVP in advance, the event is still first come, first served, so you’ll need to get there early to get on line. (You SXSW alums know how this all works. If you’re a noob, well, fasten your seatbelts… you’re in for a bumpy ride.) Just to be clear, you can’t attend just StarTalk Live… it’s all or nothing.
Here’s the location and time for “Quirky + GE Present A Night of Invention”:
Vulcan Gas Co
(Between Neches and Trinity)
418 East 6th Street
Austin, TX
Saturday, March 8, 2014 from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM (CST)
StarTalk Live-Streamed?
For those of us who can’t make it out to Austin, we’ll be able to watch StarTalk Live via the live-stream on Geekosystem.com. This is the first time a StarTalk Live will be live-streamed, and we’re all pretty excited about it.
Two Premieres This Sunday: COSMOS and StarTalk
Speaking of excitement, as everybody on the planet knows by now, COSMOS, hosted by Neil deGrasse Tyson, will premiere on FOX this Sunday, March 9th at 9 pm ET.
But that’s not the only premiere this Sunday. This Sunday’s StarTalk podcast will feature guest host Bill Nye the Science Guy, comic co-host Eugene Mirman, and their guest NASA astronaut Mike Massimino answering the Cosmic Queries you sent in about science.
It’s another first – the first time we’ve ever had a guest host for an episode of StarTalk, but it won’t be the last. While Neil is busy with COSMOS, some of our episodes will be guest hosted by science all stars including Bill Nye the Science Guy, astronomer Dr. Amy Mainzer, and astrobiologist Dr. Funkyspoon (aka Dr. David Grinspoon).
StarTalk Live coming to Boston
Last but not least, we just found out that the StarTalk Live road show is heading up to Boston on Sunday, May 4th for a performance at the Berklee Performance Center. The show is part of the Eugene Mirman Comedy Festival, and will be hosted by Bill Nye the Science Guy and co-hosted, of course, by Eugene.
Tickets go on sale Friday, March 7 at 12 pm ET. You can get more information here.
That’s it for now. Keep Looking Up!
